IREX is a smart fitness and physiotherapy device: a personal trainer and physiotherapist in one. A companion app tracks training progress and gives personalised recommendations.
Why measure force?
Measuring force changes how coaches and physiotherapists approach strength training, injury prevention and rehabilitation. Connected sensors show exactly how strength and fatigue develop in different parts of the body.
With that data, trainers can set training loads more precisely, spot injury risks earlier and see whether a programme is actually working.
The design
We designed the first concept and working prototype. The device measures pushing and pulling in both directions, up to 200 kg, and had to stay comfortable across a wide range of exercises.
The outer shell is 3D printed in strong, durable nylon. Inside, laser-cut stainless steel parts carry the load, and a high-precision load cell measures resistance so every session can be tracked.
